About the Event

Suggested donation $35

Join us for a unique and enriching session of the Women’s Wellness Collective as we explore Kuchipudi, an Indian classical dance form that blends storytelling, rhythm, and movement into a beautiful embodiment of grace and strength.

Led by Aswathi Arun, this workshop is designed to introduce participants to the foundational elements of Kuchipudi in a welcoming, beginner-friendly environment. Through gentle movement, rhythmic footwork, and expressive gestures, we’ll connect with our bodies and inner vitality.

No prior dance experience is necessary—just an open heart and a willingness to move.

Come as you are and leave feeling grounded, inspired, and more deeply connected to your inner self.

What to Expect:

A brief introduction to the history and spirit of Kuchipudi

Basic steps and hand gestures (mudras)

Guided movement practice rooted in tradition

Time for reflection, connection, and community sharing

This session invites you to experience the joy of movement as medicine and expression as empowerment.

*Workshops are on a donation basis. Suggested donation is $35, however you may choose to donate more or less, to suit your need.

Your Guide:

Aswathi Arun Konkoth (formerly Aswathi Kunnath) began her training in Kuchipudi at the age of six in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Since 1994, she has been a dedicated disciple of her guru, Smt. Lakshmi Babu—founder and director of Kuchipudi Dance Academy (KDA) and a direct disciple of the legendary Padmashri Dr. Sobha Naidu.

Aswathi has performed throughout the country, with notable performances at the Washington National Cathedral, the Indian Embassy in Washington DC, the National Geographic Bee in 2012 hosted by Alex Trebek, and alongside her guru and fellow KDA artists at the All-Indian Dance Festival at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

Currently, Aswathi is pursuing her master’s degree in Kuchipudi at Aria University. As a mother of two daughters, she has deepened her passion for promoting the arts. In 2021, she founded Kuchipudi with Aswathi, a dance school committed to teaching and nurturing the next generation of Kuchipudi dancers across the New York Tri-state.
